Good to know
Everything you were about to ask.
The questions we hear most — about our pottery classes, private events and handmade ceramics. Anything else, we're one message away.
What is Sculpt & Pour?
Sculpt & Pour is our pottery and wine night at Salty Grapes in Bogangar. It's part ceramics workshop, part wine tasting — you shape your own piece by hand while tasting wines and hearing the stories behind them. No experience needed.
How much does a pottery class cost?
Sculpt & Pour is $165 per person. That covers your 2-hour guided workshop, two glasses of wine, all materials and tools, and your handmade piece — professionally kiln-fired with a white glazed finish. Private events are quoted per group; send us an enquiry and we'll put a quote together.
What should I wear to a pottery class?
Come comfortable. Aprons are provided and clay washes out easily, but we'd avoid your best white linen all the same. Workshops run indoors at Salty Grapes, so dress for the weather getting there and back.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. Every session is fully guided, step by step, and most of our guests have never touched clay before. Zero pressure, maximum fun.
What will we make?
Each Sculpt & Pour has its own piece. Our current workshops have you hand-building a salad bowl and a pair of salad servers. Previous nights made antipasto platters — and new pieces come around each season.
What's included in Sculpt & Pour?
A 2-hour guided workshop, two glasses of wine, all materials and tools, and your handmade piece — kiln-fired and glazed after the night so you keep it forever.
When do we get our finished pieces?
Your pieces are professionally kiln-fired with a white glazed finish after the workshop and are ready to collect approximately 4 weeks later from Salty Grapes.
Where are Sculpt & Pour classes held?
At Salty Grapes, Shop 3, 49 Tweed Coast Road, Bogangar NSW 2488 — a wine bar on the Tweed Coast between Cabarita Beach and Pottsville. Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can start together.
How do I book a spot?
Book through Salty Grapes — the booking link is on each date in our events page. Spots are limited, so we'd book early.
Do you host private parties and events?
Yes — hens parties, birthdays, dinner parties, corporate events, Christmas parties and Airbnb experiences. We bring the full studio experience to you: everything is styled, set up and packed away, and no one lifts a finger. Send us an enquiry on the events page with your date and group size.
Where do you travel to for private events?
We come to you across the Northern Rivers and Southern Gold Coast — homes, backyards, holiday houses, venues and workplaces. Cabarita Beach, Kingscliff, Pottsville, Casuarina, Tweed Heads, Byron Bay and the Gold Coast are all in our regular patch.
Can I buy your ceramics?
Yes — handmade pieces are available in our online shop and in store at Salty Grapes, Cabarita. Colanders, plates and platters, each one a little different because each one is made by hand.
Tell me about the Tuscany retreat?
In early May 2027 we're taking a small group to Cicogna, Tuscany for a twelve-day ceramics, food and culture retreat with Salty Grapes — clay under your hands, wine in your glass, long lunches and village festivals. Details are still coming together; join the list on the Tuscany page to be the first to know.
